Classic Cars Welcome Scheme

For all visitors to Scotland and in particular the Scottish Borders, the quality of the facilities, the services and the warmth of the welcome are paramount to an enjoyable holiday. As the national Tourist Board, VisitScotland strives to ensure that excellent quality comes top of the list for accommodation providers and visitor attractions across the country.

To improve the welcome given to classic and vintage car enthusiasts, we have launched a classic car wekcine scheme which aims to do just that. We understand the importance of a safe and secure environment to house your classic or vintage vehicle at the end of either a day's touring around Scotland in your classic or vintage car or a classic car show or event, so we have found accommodation with a number of extra services and facilities for classic and vintage cars to add to visitor comfort, enhance your classic or vintage car touring experience and make your UK driving holiday even more special. 

Accommodation providers in the Classic Car Welcome Scheme provide:

  1. Suitable car parking with security provision for your classic car or vintage vehicle (preferably off road and private)
  2. List of local garages/mechanics with knowledge of classic/vintage or sports cars
  3. Car wash facilities on site or nearby for your classic car 
  4. Use of car cleaning equipment (rags, soft cloths, old towels, sponges, bucket and vacuum) to ensure you can keep your classic car in top condition
  5. OS maps with scenic or interesting day tours, books and magazines to tour around in your classic or vintage car
  6. Information on local visitor attractions, refreshment stops, petrol stations and accessory shops to provide you with an array of things to do whilst on your classic car driving holiday.
