Perthshire Millennium Route

Ten centuries of Scottish history in a day. Do you think you are up for the challenge?

From Perth take your classic car on the M90 (Edinburgh) then onto the A912 followed by the A913 to the delightful village of Abernethy with its Round Tower (11th century), one of only two left in Scotland. Return via Perth and its 15th century St John?s Kirk, where John Knox preached his reformation sermon. Follow signs for A85 Crieff for 4 miles, stopping off at Huntingtower Castle. You?ve now jumped into the 16th century and can marvel at some magnificent painted ceilings with a ghost story thrown in. Drive along the A9 Inverness road to Dunkeld, take the A822 and then the A826 to Aberfeldy with its 18th century bridge built by General Wade then back to Killiecrankie, scene of the famous 17th century battle between the Jacobites and the King?s men. Visit Blair Castle or Scone Palace, both steeped in history to finish off your day and fill in your missing centuries.
